ABOUT THE POSITION

The General Assistant will be responsible for supporting various cleaning and operational functions within the residence. This includes ensuring that all areas are kept clean, hygienic, and well-organized at all times. The position requires attention to detail, consistency, and a strong sense of responsibility.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

The selected candidate will help maintain cleanliness in several key areas of the residence. These include the dining room, kitchen, living rooms, bathrooms, and laundry. Ensuring these spaces are always clean and hygienic is essential for the health and safety of the residents.

You will also be expected to support the daily operations of the residence, which may include assisting with basic tasks as required by management. Following and implementing established policies and procedures for the residence is an important part of the role.

In addition, the general assistant may be required to perform other assigned duties, depending on the needs of the residence. Flexibility and a willingness to help wherever needed will be valued.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must have at least a secondary school certificate (Grade 10), although a high school diploma (Grade 12) will be considered an asset. Candidates must be able to obtain South African Police Service (SAPS) clearance, as working in an elderly care environment requires a high level of trust and integrity.

Basic knowledge or experience in elderly care will be considered an asset, but is not required. The ability to work effectively as part of a team is essential, as you will collaborate with other staff members to ensure smooth daily operations.

Good communication skills in English are required to interact with colleagues and understand instructions clearly. Candidates must also be in good health, as the position may involve physical tasks such as cleaning, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
