FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The electrical technician will be responsible for performing electrical maintenance, repairs, and installations in a mining or industrial environment. This includes working with electrical systems connected to mining equipment, high-voltage (HV) distribution systems, substations, pumps, and conveyor belt systems.

The selected candidate will perform regular inspections, identify electrical faults, and ensure that machinery and electrical systems operate in accordance with required safety and operational standards. The rapid and effective resolution of electrical problems will be critical to minimizing downtime and maintaining productivity.

Technical electricians will also be required to perform planned maintenance, repairs, and installations, ensuring compliance with company procedures and national safety standards. The position may also involve participating in equipment upgrades, system improvements, and providing technical support to operating teams.

Due to the nature of the work environment, candidates must be prepared to be on call and respond to emergency calls when necessary. This ensures the continuous maintenance of electrical systems and the prompt resolution of any unexpected breakdowns.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Applicants interested in this opportunity must meet the following requirements:

✔ High school diploma with a minimum N2 academic qualification in electricity
✔ Vocational training certificate in electricity (Section 13)
✔ Solid knowledge and proven experience in operating mining equipment
✔ Experience with high-voltage networks, substations, pumps, and conveyor belt systems
✔ Medium-voltage switchgear certification will be considered an asset
✔ Good communication skills and adaptability to changing work environments
✔ Availability for on-call duty and emergency call response
✔ Solid knowledge of mining or manufacturing safety regulations
✔ Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
✔ Valid South African driving licence
